Fest 300 Magazine recently talked to Aaron about stage-diving, crowd surfing and why some "over zealous" fans looking for trophies have forced him to semi-retire the practice. Those of us who have experienced him greeting the Nation in this very up close and personal way and have joined together to help hold him are unbelievably sad about this, but totally understand. Any kind of activity like this is dependent on trust. It's a shame when that trust is abused by a few selfish people. - Kris
Florida’s SunFest invades downtown West Palm Beach this week, and AWOLNATION’s Aaron Bruno is looking forward to bringing the group’s high-energy show to its sweaty masses. While festival-goers can expect to hear new cuts from their recently-released sophomore album, Run , the frontman reveals he’s changed his tune when it comes to getting up close and personal with fans.
Bruno tells Fest300 his “stage diving days are semi-retired,” thanks to some overzealous fans looking for a trophy. “I care about my socks a lot, and I would take off my shoes before I would jump in the crowd because I didn’t want to lose my shoes,” he notes. “People started taking off my socks, so I can’t even explain to you how many mismatched socks I have in my drawer right now because of this.”
Aaron admits he’s always taken chances communing with the crowd, referencing his crowd surfing display during the band’s first appearance at Coachella. “I always thought it would be a good idea to take an actual surf board and crowd surf literally on people,” he professes. “After that I saw that I wasn’t the only one who had surfed on top of objects on top of crowds, and so I kind of retired it.”
The singer adds he also quit riding on top of the crowd because “it became a little bit dangerous” for him personally as his music became popular. “I used to have much longer hair, and so people would rip that off at times,” he recalls. “In the beginning it didn’t happen that way. I noticed a big difference when some of the songs ended up [on the] radio, it just changed the way people treated me when I would do stuff like that.”

We all have our favorite lyrics from songs we love. We buy or make t-shirts proclaiming them to the world. Some of us even get those lyrics, that are so representative of our own life's story, tattooed on our bodies. And we love to discuss them, to interpret them, to find our own meaning in them as well as trying to determine what Aaron meant or was feeling when he wrote them.
Adam Rosenblum, writing for AXS has shared what he believes to be AWOLNATION's best lyrics. What do you think of his choices? What are YOUR favorites?
Since their debut album Megalithic Symphony hit the scene in 2011, AWOLNATION has been regaling audiences with their own particular brand of dual-persona electronic rock. Thrashing, angry and mellifluously smooth (sometimes within the same song), AWOLNATION's lyrics are a curious blend of existential nonsense and gun barrels pointed at societal ills. Between its two official albums, the band has managed to produce a wealth of lyrics worth looking at. Here are the top five.

Here it is! Slight redemption for my misinformation earlier. Great interview!
*UPDATE* Only the interviews will be live streamed. KDGE is not allowed to stream the performances. Sincerest apologies for my own confusion.
They are also on Periscope, because they're cool like that. If you can't be at #EF2015 you can check it out by tuning in.
Alternative Nation's Doug McCausland asked a bunch of our favorite musicians their thoughts on the return of Star Wars. Aaron is pumped for the sequel. Read the full article here.
Aaron Bruno (AWOLNATION frontman) – So far what I’ve seen is beyond epic and better than I ever imagined. It seems darker and right. I got chills and had a tear in my eye I was so excited! At first, I was gravely disappointed with [the prequels], except III, because you can watch Anakin truly lose his mind. They even suggested some terrible things he did which was hard to sell, but they were true to the story. Darker throughout the whole thing, it was ridiculous. I recently recently got to watch all six of them again, the original trilogy first, obviously, with someone who hadn’t seen them. I’ve been so far removed from the prequels that I was able to enjoy them more now… Darth Maul was an incredible character. I feel like he kind of died in whack way. I don’t like the way they killed him. [Doug points out he was resurrected in The Clone Wars animated series] Oh, yeah?
